Kamya Sanjay

Senior Associate

Kamya is passionate about supporting system innovations that address social drivers of health, uplift historically marginalized populations, and strengthen communities from the inside out. She came to Quantified Ventures after four years in the clinical world as an EMT and emergency medicine scribe, where she witnessed the importance of upstream solutions for health-related social needs firsthand. Kamya first discovered outcomes-based financing as a research fellow at the University of Virginia's Systems Entrepreneurship "Pay for Success" lab, where she investigated avenues for reductions in hospital readmissions in rural areas through community-based healthcare partnerships and developed early stage research for Medicaid-reimbursed remote triage at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Working with the Serious Illness Care Program at Ariadne Labs, a center for health systems innovation at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Kamya assisted in the scaling and implementation of system-level interventions and organizational partnerships aiming to increase frequency and improve quality of serious illness conversations, with the goal of redesigning care delivery models to prioritize patient autonomy. Kamya additionally spent time at Virginia's Department of Medical Assistance Services researching the clinical and policy implications of Medicaid financing and coverage for doula care, high cost drugs, and telehealth services during the pandemic. Kamya holds a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Law, Policy, and Ethics from the University of Virginia. Her thesis focused on the research and development of a novel public health curriculum in full partnership with the Self Employed Women's Association, the largest women's union in India, designed to center the expertise of community health workers and other community-level organizers. She left academia with deep reverence for the power of community-based organizations in delivering sustainable solutions, drawing her to Quantified Ventures and sparking her interest in securing financing for similar impact-driven organizations and interventions.

Outside of work, Kamya is an amateur DJ and enjoys live music and concerts, longform journalism, cooking for friends and family, and taking long walks in big green spaces. She originally hails from Richmond, Virginia.
