Amie Fleming

Senior Director, Natural Climate Solutions

Amie has always been deeply motivated to work for mission driven organizations, where she is passionate about scaling social and environmental impact. She began her career in outdoor education and conservation, working for organizations such as the Appalachian Mountain Club, National Outdoor Leadership School, and the High Mountain Institute. With her students and guests, she helped strengthen environmental ethics, lead safe and rewarding backcountry travel, and foster a stronger connection to the outdoors. Amie then shifted her focus from education to policy through her work for Greenbelt Alliance, a Bay Area nonprofit focused on regional land use planning. There, her work mainly focused on capacity building and fundraising to advance the region’s protection of open spaces and working landscapes and advocacy for housing and transit availability and equity.

Eventually Amie returned to graduate school to expand her professional toolbox beyond education, policy, and fundraising to include finance and strategy. During her MBA program at Georgetown, she completed consulting projects for a wide range of organizations around the world, including the International Finance Corporation in DC, Mondelez International’s Sustainability division in Ghana, and the National Park Service in Grand Canyon National Park.

Outside of work, Amie can be found exploring DC with friends, dancing at a concert, or planning her next backpacking trip. Amie is originally from Lincoln, Massachusetts.
