Michelle shin, special assistant

Michelle is a bicycle urbanist proactively working to change people’s interactions with their built environment in a way that enhances every individual’s quality of life. Michelle was always passionate about environmental justice, and she explored this issue by working with her regional food systems. Throughout her undergraduate career, she held multiple positions that addressed Tompkins County, New York’s food systems from both non-profit and for-profit sectors. Much of her work focused on coordinating collaboration between these sectors and thereby leading to operational change and greater accountability.

Michelle then developed a passion for bicycle urbanism during her semester abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark. The culmination of both academic and experiential learning has led her to recognize the critical need for greater private and public sector partnerships in tackling social and environmental issues. Michelle was attracted to Quantified Ventures for being at the forefront of mending this gap while yielding measurable impacts.

Michelle recently graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in a self-crafted study of Sustainability Management and Spatial Planning. During her time not working or biking, she likes to produce documentary films, write short stories, and cook shared meals.
